Meet Gary Gilbert: 41 Years of Automotive Passion in Woodstock, GA

For Gary Gilbert, the owner of AAMCO Transmission in Woodstock, the roar of an engine is more than just a sound—it is a lifelong passion. Gary’s journey into the world of automotive repair began during the golden age of muscle cars. He still remembers the defining moment his career path was set: the day he brought his first small-block Chevrolet engine to life. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a dedicated career built on technical mastery and a genuine love for the challenges of the trade.

A Legacy of Technical Expertise

Gary brings an elite level of experience to the Woodstock community. With 41 years in the automotive industry, he has worked across every facet of the business, from independent shops and remanufacturing facilities to major dealerships and national franchises.

His technical credentials represent the gold standard in automotive repair. Gary is an ASE Master Technician and holds the advanced ASE L1 certification. His specialized training includes GM and Ford dealership transmission schools, and he has earned the prestigious titles of AAMCO Master Transmission Builder and AAMCO Master Technician. This deep technical background ensures that every vehicle entering his shop—whether it needs a complex transmission rebuild or a routine service—is handled with expert precision.

Built on Transparency and Trust

Gary understands that automotive repair can often feel overwhelming for drivers. That is why he has built his business on a foundation of transparency. To Gary, building trust isn’t just about making a repair; it’s about showing the customer exactly what is happening with their vehicle. By utilizing pictures and videos to explain necessary services, Gary ensures that every customer feels informed, respected, and confident in the work being performed.

Commitment to the Woodstock Community

Growing up in South Cobb County, Gary chose to move to Woodstock for the excellent school systems and the opportunity to serve his community. When he decided to open his own shop, his primary motivation was simple: to help others.

Outside of the shop, Gary is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending time with friends and supporting local youth. He is an active member of his church and a proud sponsor of the Woodstock Little League baseball. Whether he is building a high-performance transmission or supporting a local team, Gary’s goal remains the same—contributing to the community he calls home.
